[MWC 2015]: Lenovo unveils the MIIX 300 Windows 8.1 tablet
“Lenovo has just unveiled the MIIX 300 tablet which brings full Windows 8.1 experience without burning a hole in your pocket”It’s that time of the year when every OEM wants to showcase what it has in store for consumers. While Windows tablets aren't as popular as their iOS and Android counterparts, the OEMs haven't given up on them yet. Lenovo has taken the ongoing MWC as an opportunity to take the wraps off of its budget-friendly MIIX 300 Windows 8.1 tablet. The tablet aims to bring the complete Windows 8.1 experience on a budget as it has been priced at just $149 (roughly Rs 9,000).
The MIIX 300 has an 8-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels. The slate is meant for the users aiming for a no-fuss productivity and entertainment device. It runs Windows 8.1 with Bing which Microsoft made free for the OEMs if the size of tablet is less than 9-inches. Budget devices usually tend to have plastic bodies, but Lenovo has gone with the aluminium chassis in case of the MIIX 300, making it lightweight at just 360 grams.
Taking charge of the processing department is a 64-bit quad-core Intel BayTrail processor whose clock speed hasn’t been disclosed as of now. It's mated to 2GB RAM, and will be offered in different internal storage variants starting from 16GB and going all the way up to 64GB. There's also a microSD card slot supporting memory expansion by another 32GB. The tablet gets Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 for connectivity.
For imaging, a 5MP camera is present at the rear and a 2MP on the front. It comes with one year free subscription to Office 365. Lenovo claims a battery life of up to 7 hours though the exact battery ratings haven’t been disclosed as of now. The rollout of the MIIX 300 tablet will begin in July this year.
